Morocco welcomes its 7 millionth tourist
Morocco has greeted at Fez Saïs airport Wednesday, its 7 millionth tourist, in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mr. Mohamed Boussaïd, on the occasion of the national day of tourism.

The happy tourist, a father of a French family came to visit the spiritual capital of the Kingdom, has been in the spotlight this ceremony, which took place in the presence of the wali of the region Fès-Boulemane, Mr. Mohamed Rherrabi, the Director General of the Moroccan National Office of Tourism (MNTO), Mr. Abbas Azzouzi, the Director General of the National Office of Airports (ONDA), Mr. Abdelhanine Benallou, and the chairmen of the city of Fez, prefectural council and the region. On this occasion, Mr. Boussaïd congratulated members of the French family who will benefit from a stay in the city of Fez and its regions, donated by MNTO. At a press briefing held in conjunction with the ceremony, Mr. Abbas Azzouzi, pointed out that this initiative is part of the national strategy to accommodate 7 2007, stressing that the organisation of this event in Fez testament to the importance of the spiritual capital as attractive destination for tourists. He highlighted the various strategies aimed at enhancing the attractiveness of the destination of Fez, recalling the achievements of the MNTO during the current year. Mr. Azzouzi quoted to this effect, the continuation of launching new cultural destinations through the establishment at the national level, air connections point to point (those of Fez in Spain and Ouarzazate in France and Belgium). The year 2007, he continued, has been particularly preparing for the launch of new resorts (Tetouan, Saïdia), the declination of the approach niche products in major markets and the revival of the tourism policy MRE and internal, as well as the strengthening of the e-learning programme at the level of travel agents and the implementation of the program responsible tourism.
